Class Safety Information
You must refer to the Safety Checklist (see below) and you must comply with everything on the list.
By starting the video or joining the group on Zoom you are agreeing that you comply with all requirements on the check-list and consider it safe to proceed with the exercise class.
The following list is the longer, explanatory version and is followed by a short version for you to print and check through before you start every exercise class.
Please ask me to send you a copy in the mail if you do not have a printer.
You must enter the class at least 5 minutes before the start time. If the warm up has started you will not be admitted unless you have prior agreement from the Heartwatch Instructor.
For your first class, and subsequent classes, you will ensure there is someone else in the house with you, if instructed to do so by Metronome's Phase IV Instructor.
If you have balance issues you will never exercise alone in the house.
You have taken all the medication you should have taken before your class.
You have not eaten a meal within two hours of starting an exercise class.
You will keep hydrated before, during and after your exercise class.
You will wear appropriate clothing and footwear and not exercise in sock feet, slippers or other footwear such as ‘crocs’.
You have a safe amount of room, in which to exercise, and have removed all slip, trip and collision hazards.
You will work at your own, individual, fitness level and not 'over exert‘.
You will work either within a heart rate training zone prescribed by the Phase IV Instructor or to a level of between 11 and 13 on the Borg RPE 6-20 scale.
If you have been prescribed GTN spray, you must have it to hand during the class.
You know how and when to use your GTN spray if you have one.
You do not have any contra-indications i.e.
- you have forgotten to take this mornings medications,
- unstable angina, a resting heart rate of more than 100 beats per minute,
- unstable diabetes, a new or uncontrolled arrhythmia,
- your blood pressure top number is above 180mmHg,
- your blood pressure bottom number is above 100mmHg,
- you feel at all unwell,
- you have a high temperature or a febrile illness,
- you are taking a course of antibiotics for an infection.If you have anything listed above, you must not exercise.
